Hello!

There’s only one day left until I reveal my cover to you all, and I’m so excited to share it with you all, but I’m also kind of sad that the end of this blog series will officially end tomorrow. *Sad face.*  But I have one more blog post left in me before this series comes to an end, so let’s get to it.

As with any writer, I want my book to be well-received by readers. I want them to love every ounce of work that I put into it, because I put my everything into Wrong in All the Right Ways. (Not to say that any subsequent book will not have my everything in it, but you know what I mean). That’s my first goal. I want it to be liked. That’s it. It’s as simple as that. However, my ultimate goal is that it becomes so popular a novel that someone wants to make a film adaptation of it one day. So that’s what this post will be all about: Movie Adaptations of Books.

Let me be clear: I am definitely a “Books are Better than the Movie” person, but that doesn’t stop me from going to see the film. In fact, whenever I find out that a movie is based off of a book, I rush to read it before the movie comes out so I can make comparisons while I watch it in the theater. I know I probably annoy my friends when I make the “That wasn’t in the book” comment, but I can’t help it. I feel slighted whenever a film adaptation changes anything for the movie—especially things that I thought to be really important in the book. There is nothing I find more annoying than going to see a based-off-a-book film that changed insignificant things such as a character’s eye color or their hair or things like that. It’s like, “How can I trust you to handle the plot with care when you can’t even get the little things right like eye color.”

There are very few movies that pass my standards when it comes to staying true to the book, and while I find pleasure in pointing out the differences in films that are based off of books, but I also love the truly satisfying feeling of a film that gets every single thing right. I haven’t experienced a film like that in years, but that is what I would want for Wrong in All the Right Ways. I would want viewers to leave with that warm feeling of “Wow! They actually got it right.”
